40-Hour Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) This course provides the required 40-hour TCEQ approved course along with the TCEQ approved "hands-on" practical and written test administered a the conclusion of the course to be considered for licensing by TCEQ as a Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester.
8-Hour BPAT Practical Skills Refresher This course is primarily designed to provide continuing education and "hands-on" training required by TCEQ for renewal of the BPAT License and to serve as a refresher of test procedures associated with backflow prevention assemblies for licensed Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester.
8-Hour Basics and Rules Relating to Backflow Prevention This eight hour class is primarily designed to provide continuing education for licensed Backflow Prevention Assembly Testers. However, other licensed individuals may receive valuable information relating their fields, including Code Enforcement and Sanitarians. This class is classroom only and does not include the eight ours of "hands-on" training or practical skills training as required by TCEQ.
24-Hour Continuing Education This twenty four (24) hour class is a combination of the eight (8) hour “Basics and Rules Relating to Backflow Prevention” and the sixteen (16) hour “BPAT Hydraulics with Practical Skills”. The Student who successfully completes this course will receive two (2) certificates. One Certificate for the eight (8) hour course code 1234 and the sixteen (16) hour course code 1204. This course is primarily designed to provide continuing education for licensed Backflow Prevention Assembly Testers. However, other licensed individuals may receive valuable information relating to their fields. This course also includes the eight (8) hour “Hands On” practical skills training required by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for renewal of a BPAT license.
10-Hour Customer Service Inspector (CSI) This course is primarily designed to provide the necessary training for individuals who have met the TCEQ requirements and wish to obtain a Customer Service Inspector license. The holder of the Customer Service Inspector license may perform a Customer Service Inspection as outlined by the rules and regulatins as proviced by TCEQ. TDSHS has approved this course for CEUs for Registered Sanitarians and Code Enforcement Officers.
Completing the 40-Hr BPAT course also provides continuing education credit for the following licenses:
- 40-hours of continuing education credits for licensed Backflow Prevention Assembly Testers
- 12-hours of continuing education credits for licensed Water and Wastewater Operators
- 12-hours of continuing education credits for licensed Landscape Irrigators
- 12-hours of continuing education credits for licensed Customer Service Inspectors
- 12-hours of continuing education credits for licensed Water Treatment Specialist
- 100-hours of training credit to an applicant for a Plumbing Inspectors license (through TSBPE)
Completing the 8-Hr Practical Skills Refresher course provides continuing education credit for the following licenses:

Completing the 24-Hr Continuing Education course provides continuing education credit for the following licenses:

The Mobile Backflow Prevention Assembly
Laboratory (Mobile BPAT Lab) is designed
to bring the classroom to the client. The Mobile BPAT Lab consists of 10 testing stations with 1 RPZ, 1 DCVA, 1 PVB and 1 SVB for a total of 40 testable backflow prevention assemblies. The backflow prevention assemblies are mounted inside a 16-foot trailer with 5 testing stations on each side. Apollo, Febco, Wilkins and Watts are the manufactures features in the Mobile BPAT Lab. When connected to the water supply, the Mobile BPAT Lab provides the students with the experience of testing backflow prevention assemblies in a real-world environment.
