This course is primarily designed to provide the necessary training for individuals who have met the TCEQ requirements and wish to obtain a Customer Service Inspector license. The holder of the Customer Service Inspector license may perform a Customer Service Inspection, (CSI), as outlined by the rules and regulations as provided by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, (TCEQ). Other licensed individuals may also receive valuable information relating to their fields.

Completing this course provides continuing education credit for the following licenses:

  • 16 hours continuing education credit for licensed Customer Service Inspector(CSI)
  • 16 hours continuing education credit for licensed Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT)
  • 16 hours continuing education credit for licensed Water Operators
  • 12 hours continuing education credit for licensed Wastewater Operators
  • 12 hours continuing education credit for licensed Water Treatment Specialists
  • 12 hours continuing education credit for licensed Landscape Irrigators, Technicians, and Inspectors

PREREQUISITES
Students should review TCEQ REQUIREMENTS to ensure that they are eligible for a license before registering for class.
Effective September 1, 2017, pursuant to TCEQ Reg-521 "Criminal History Guidelines", those with a felony criminal history should contact TCEQ Licensing Division prior to registering for a training course. Specific criminal history could negatively impact the ability to receive a TCEQ issued occupational license.
While there are no prerequisites to attend the Customer Service Inspector course, there are prerequisites for taking the Customer Service Inspector Exam to obtain the CSI license:

RULE §30.90. Qualifications for Initial License

  • To obtain a license, an individual must have:
    • met the requirements in Subchapter A of this chapter (relating to Administration of Occupational Licenses and Registrations);
    • received a high school diploma or equivalent certificate;
    • completed an approved customer service inspector training course;
    • worked at least two years in an approved area which includes, but is not limited to:
      • operation or maintenance of a public drinking water treatment or distribution system;
      • performing activities requiring a master or journeyman plumbing license;
      • conducting building or construction inspections; or
      • performing duties related to this profession approved by the executive director.
  • One year of college (32 semester hours) or an additional 20 hours of training credits may be substituted for one year of the experience requirement.
