TCEQ Course Code 1855:

This 8-hour Backflow Troubleshooting course provides continuing education for licensed Backflow Prevention Assembly Testers (BPATs) and other water industry professionals who need to sharpen their analytical and diagnostic skills for identifying problems in backflow prevention assemblies. The course focuses on real-world problem-solving rather than repair, equipping students to recognize causes of test failures and determine appropriate corrective actions.

Through instructor-led presentations, demonstrations, and discussion of real scenarios, participants will explore the mechanical and hydraulic principles that influence backflow assembly performance. The course covers how to interpret test results, isolate malfunctions, and troubleshoot across all common assembly types—including Reduced Pressure Principle Assemblies (RP), Double Check Valve Assemblies (DCVA), Pressure Vacuum Breakers (PVB), and Spill-Resistant Vacuum Breakers (SVB).

Completing this course provides 8-hours of continuing education credit for the following licenses:

  • Water Utility Operators
  • Customer Service Inspectors
  • Backflow Prevention Assembly Testers
  • Landscape Irrigators, Technicians, or Inspectors
